Automatic keyword linking in WordPress

When it comes to content, we all know it is important to get the text to revolve around your site’s keywords. By making sure each page of content refers to your keywords, it helps to build up relevancy not only for that particular article, but also for the website as a whole.

One of the ways to increase the benefits of adding keywords is to add a hyperlink to at least one keyword on each page. By adding a link to a page that is highly relevant to the anchor text, search engines are more likely to associate the page with that keyword. This helps to improve the websites internal link structure for both visitors and search engines, allowing them to find the most appropriate information more easily.

Although many sites may choose to target 4-5 keywords, some can have tens of keywords and more, so adding a link to each keyword can be a hassle, especially if you start this after already having written hundreds of pages of content. That is where automatic keyword linking tools come in useful. In particular, there is a plug-in for WordPress called ‘SEO Smart Links’, which is very effective for this kind of usage.

SEO Smart Links allows the WordPress administrator to add as many keywords as they like, along with a URL for each keyword. The plug-in will then automatically add a link to each keyword when the page is loaded by a visitor or search engine. You can easily set a maximum number of keywords and links per content page, so it does not end up spammed with links.
