Google Buzz not rival to Facebook or Twitter

Bradley Horowitz, from Google, says that the new social networking addition to Gmail, Google Buzz, is not a rival for Facebook and Twitter. He believes that Buzz is an entirely different product that fills a niche not currently met.

Thus far in its short life, controversy has surrounded Google Buzz, with users complaining that it exposed private information about themselves unless you made certain changes to prevent it from doing so. The Google brand is strong, however, and the company remain confident that it will prove a success long-term.

“I think something unique is happening on Buzz that will continue to evolve,” said Horowitz.

He went on to say that it was difficult to glean too much information about how things were likely to pan out from just a few days’ use, but he believes that Buzz will thrive in what he described as ‘the conversational Web’.

It’s very much early days and a number of features are not as fluid as the company might like, but with such weight behind it, it certainly has potential. The privacy-related controversy was addressed quickly and this may have prevented significant damage to Buzz’s reputation.

  2. The main purpose of Twitter is to receive and send short messages from other Twitter users. Many use it strictly to interact socially, but Twitter is also becoming a necessary tool for internet marketing.

  3. Twitter does not have link juice. But because of their amazingly high pagerank, your tweets and also your Twitter profile page can get on the first page of Google simply with a good linking strategy
