Whilst being very effective for generating tons of targeted traffic to your website and for getting your pages indexed by search engines at the speed of light, social media optimisation (SMO) can be extremely time consuming. You simply key in the information, choose the sites you want to submit to and hit ‘Generate links for submit’.

You will then have a menu based on the sites that you’ve selected.

‘R’ and ‘L’ stands for login and register respectively so that you can create an account or login to the sites. Pressing ‘post’ takes you to the submission page of the given site, filling the fields URL, title, description, keywords/tags where applicable.

OnlyWire and Social Poster are perhaps the 2 most effective social bookmarks aggregators. Which one to use? Well that depends on time versus effectiveness. If you don’t have much time to spare OnlyWire does a good job, for a full power SMO campaign Social Poster is better.

Be a wise social marketer, many people just don’t get the social media dynamics and simply create a bunch of accounts in sites like Digg, StumbleUpon or Del.icio.us and only bookmark their own pages. It doesn’t work that way, the key for success in SMO is to establish good relationships with authority community members, bookmark any page that you find interesting, and build trust. After doing this for some time you’ve created solid social profiles that people trust.

In essence, give love without expecting anything back and you’ll naturally draw attention your way.
