75 million members in Twitter

According to an analyst company, Twitter, the social networking site had 75 million members up to the end of December 2009. The report also revealed that most of the accounts are non-active and they are not attracting new members like they did last summer.

Currently, the numbers of new users who are joining the Twitter are about 6.2 million. Although this is an amazing figure, it is much lower that the numbers which were reported in July 2009. Last year, the numbers of users joining per month reached 7.8 million.

The report also stated that Twitter has experienced a steady decline in the figures of new account registrations in the past six months. Out of 75 million users, 80 percent of Twitter members have tweeted less than 10 times. Moreover, 25 percent of the accounts have no followers at all. On the other hand, active users have already tweeted more than 3,200 times. These users only represent 10 percent of the 75 million.

So, once again it has been proved that Facebook is the leader amongst all the social networking sites, as it has 350 million members.
