Google AdWords: Copy your campaigns to Yahoo

Yes, this is now possible. We have few clients who want to target their best performing AdWords campaigns to Yahoo. Though Google holds the maximum market share in paid search, you still can’t just ignore Yahoo.  We spend our time creating and optimising campaigns in AdWords to offer clients with the best return on investment. So, why don’t we make our efforts even better by testing campaigns in Yahoo?

Ok, we’ll assume that you have campaigns running in AdWords and that you would like to transfer those campaigns to Yahoo. Well, here’s how you do it:

  • Log in to your Google AdWords account and download the .csv file that contains your account / campaign / ad group.
  • Once downloaded, delete any negative keywords as Yahoo doesn’t convert these. If you wish to make adjustments to the start date, the do it and save this file.
  • Log in to the Yahoo account, click on the Campaigns tab, look for ‘Import’ and then click on the ‘Convert Third Party Campaigns’ tab.
  • Upload your csv file, name it and press the Convert button. This will convert your file into an editable Yahoo version which you can save on your desktop. Now, go back to your Yahoo account, click ‘Import Campaigns’ and upload the file you just saved.

That’s it, you’ve done what is required and now it’s time to optimise this campaign. Wait for a couple of days, see how it performs on Yahoo and optimise it the same way you’d do for Google. Running campaigns on multiple paid search engines will improve your performance and give you the best return on the time you have invested.
