Does SEO stop when you're Number 1?

Many people across the web have a misconception that once a person optimises their site and reaches the number 1 position for their chosen terms and keywords, the SEO stops and no more work is required.

Well…let me tell you – This is wrong! Rather, this is just the end of the beginning…

Once your site reaches the first spot, then you will most probably see fluctuations (also know as the Google Dance) of your site between the first 3 positions.

You will need to continue to attract quality links from quality sites and continue to add unique content to your website. After some time, your position at number 1 will hopefully become strong and stable.

Once you reach this stage, you still need to continue putting in at least as much effort as before (especially if you are ranking for a competitive term).

Why?

If you stop, then your competitors will continue to grow stronger and stronger in the SERPs and overthrow you from the first position.

So, what’s the moral?

Continue to further your sites search engine optimisation from all directions continuously without stopping, otherwise your competitors will seize the chance to take over your position.

Now I’m sure nobody wants that to happen right?
