Google opts not to show indented results

Google reportedly makes hundreds of live changes every year to its ‘Natural SEO Algorithm’.  With the most recent update it appears Google is no longer opting to show double listings, or ‘Indented Results’ and ‘Multiple Listings’, for a wide selection of search terms. This change falls in line with the recent article rankings changing to inner pages for wide selection of search terms, which emphasises Google’s focus on showing more relevant results.

Furthermore, to ensure people can still find sources relevant to their searches, it would also appear Google intends to limit the functionality only to certain brand related search terms. The twist is they are not indented and up to 4 results are shown, more are visible via the standard “Show more results from” feature, read more via Googles Webmaster Central blog post yesterday.

The changes have been received with both positive and negative criticism alike, generally reports of major drops in traffic levels, as it is believed a double listings clickthrough rate is exponentially higher.
